Narrow gauge passenger train "AJAX" (NN3 to run on Z gauge within N gauge layout)
thingiverse
This is a fresh take with brand new dimensions from scratch! Made in Tinkercad for a fun twist on my N gauge model railway running smoothly on Z gauge track. Modelled from a snapshot of the "Ajax" Saddle Tank steam locomotive, hard at work at Chatham Historic Dockyard. A fully open topped passenger car and roof to match are now included. I designed this carriage to fit perfectly with Z gauge wheels made by Rokuhan, which I remade after experiencing some initial difficulties getting them to fit, as evident in my most recent photo! Don't forget the shrinkage factor! (7% with Elegoo grey resin) You can find the wheel sets on eBay as: "Rokuhan A032 Metal Wheel Set A for Passenger/ Freight Car 4pcs. (1/220 Z Scale)" I'll keep the original Thing up to date, considering some people have already used it and might be disappointed if it disappears. The wheels I created are likely too small to print successfully in this scale, but I've included the file for anyone who wants to scale it up a bit. I tried printing them in Z scale initially, but all I got were supports and blobs on the FEP screen. I've attached the wheels to the carriage on the complete train STL just for visual reference, but... I'm still struggling to get the STLs to show in Thingiview. If anyone can offer assistance, I'd greatly appreciate it!
