In ancient Greek mythology, Narcissus was a renowned hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia celebrated for his captivating beauty. Born of the river god Cephissus and the nymph Liriope, he embodied pride, rejecting those who adored him. Nemesis observed this behavior and led Narcissus to a tranquil pool, where he encountered his own reflection in the calm water and became enthralled with its beauty, unaware that it was merely an illusion. Unable to tear himself away from the allure of his reflection, Narcissus ultimately succumbed to the water's depths.
