Napoleon Bonaparte's portrait as First Consul was created in 1802 by a generous gift from the heirs of Rinaldo Rinaldi in 1873. Napoleon Bonaparte, born on August 15, 1769, and passing away on May 5, 1821, was a highly respected French statesman and military leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and led numerous successful campaigns throughout the French Revolutionary Wars. As Emperor of France from 1804 until 1814, and briefly again in 1815 during the Hundred Days, Napoleon dominated European and global affairs for over ten years while leading France against a series of coalitions in the Napoleonic Wars. He won most of these wars and an overwhelming majority of his battles, building a massive empire that ruled over continental Europe before its final collapse in 1815. One of history's greatest commanders, his wars and campaigns are extensively studied at military schools worldwide. Napoleon's enduring legacy as a celebrated and highly debated leader in human history continues to have a profound impact on politics and culture. This object is part of "Scan The World".
