Exceptional quality meets stubborn imperfection in the Slumped Nantgarw porcelain c1814. Despite its refinement when firing was spot-on, Nantgarw porcelain proved notoriously tricky to fire in bottle-ovens, with a staggering 90% of batches ending up slumped or distorted beyond recognition. The crushing losses ultimately led to a porcelain production stint that lasted a mere four years. This project sets out to create a virtual cabinet showcasing an assortment of heritage and contemporary items from Nantgarw China Works', nestled in the heart of South Wales, UK.
