NaNoWriMo 2014 winners trophy
thingiverse
So my wife is an accomplished writer who participates in NanoWrimo every year, a contest where writers aim to craft at least 50,000 words of a novel in the month of November. The winner each year receives bragging rights as well as the title. She's done extremely well, "winning" numerous times in succession, and this year she even took on a leadership role, overseeing regional events and get-togethers for local writers during NanoWrimo. I decided it would be cool to create custom trophies for all the winners, something they could display with pride after the month-long competition concluded. I modeled them after the NanoWrimo logo, then added "winner" and the year (in this case 2014) to differentiate them from past or future victors if we decide to make this an ongoing tradition. We were unsure how many people had successfully completed their novel by the time of our celebration but decided on a batch of four. After printing out the trophies and painting them gold, it turned out we only needed to give out exactly one for each participant - perfect timing! One friend in particular, who lives far away, also won this year; we're planning to print her one too as soon as I have some time available. Once I get around to printing another trophy, you can bet I'll take a photo and update this page with the image.
