Nanoleaf Replica - Build kit

Currently in the process of printing out Harvahammas' replica NanoLeaf lighting panels. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3230905 This project started as a simple way to attach the panels, but it quickly evolved into something more complex. While assembling the cluster, I realized that I needed a control box to hold my electronics and a better way to diffuse the light than trying to cut fiddly hexagons of printer paper. **Update 1/25/19** Added super basic circuit design diagram in files per request in comments. **Update 1/8/19** Added Friskovec's covers with integrated diffusers to the list of components. **Update 1/5/19** Request in comments for the arduino code I'm using to control my project. Uploaded arduino .ino file for painfully basic control of panels, just enough to get them lit and changing. I'm posting this as a remix of the original Nano leaf replica files, but I haven't included any of Harvahammas' files, you should check out his thing for those pieces. Component Descriptions: ===== RIVETS ===== **NEW VERSION 12/29/18** I didn't want to bolt all of my panels together, so I came up with a better solution - rivets. These little plastic rivets will bring back memories of simpler times when everything was held together by rivets. Buildings? Rivets! Bridges? Rivets! Sandwiches? Rivets! Pop the rivet body through the mounting holes in the NanoLeaf bodies, slide the head over the other end and melt that little joker with a soldering iron to lock these bad boys in place. It's as easy as can be. ===== END RIVETS ===== ===== CONTROL BOX ===== I manipulated the original nanoleaf files to make sure the look was right and created this control box to hold my electronics. I wasn't keen on running 12+ panels worth of LEDs through the Arduino nano, so I added a voltage regulator built in as well. My Electronics: * Arduino Nano (clone) * 5v/3A BEC from R/C hobby-ing * Capacitor wired in parallel (separated from BEC but wired in circuit the same) * Screw clamp terminal for 12v DC in * Prototype PCB board to make it one cohesive unit. ===== END CONTROL BOX ===== ===== DIFFUSER ===== We have relatively precise 3d printers, so why not use them to make light work of tedious tasks? The diffuser is a really simple 2 layer (.4mm) thick sheet of PLA(stic) that is much stiffer than computer paper, therefore much easier to install correctly on the leaves. ===== END DIFFUSER =====
