My lathe's spindle has a 40T spur gear which cannot mesh with the provided 60T gear (no clearance) therefore I modified the original design with an 80T gear. This reduces the resolution of the encoder to 300 pulses per revolution. The axle hole is pilot size - I suggest drilling this to size on your lathe to achieve some sort of concentricity (not the best attribute of 3D printers).
