Nanibirds, a 3D model creation by Josh McKible, were initially paper-based designs. To download these models, visit http://www.nanibird.com. Upon first seeing them, I was captivated and even organized production at our Hamburg hackerspace, located at http://www.baustelle-hamburg.de. Ensure that you adhere to the original license when modifying Nanibirds; find it on their website. Having only seen the STL model, I look forward to printing my own nanibird but am unsure if the feet will provide enough support for the body, a common issue with paper models. Future enhancements could include adding an Atmel controller for LED control or other functions.
