This model is my entry for the Avatar Design Contest, where we're asked to imagine how we'll be represented in the future as avatars through VR. It was very natural for me to bring up one of my dreams, which is that one day I'll be able to create my own creations through a VR set, allowing me to translate my thoughts into 3D models without needing other tools or consoles. This way, I can do other things to take care of my health, like yoga and meditation, at the same time. In fact, my meditation would become 3D modeling, so I wouldn't have to give up one for the other - it's a win-win! Some extra information about this piece's development and the idea behind it can be found in the forum. A speed-up video of the creation process (art + 3D model) is available. A 360-degree view of the printed model is also available. An assembly demonstration shows how the interlocking pieces work together. Testing of the interlocking pieces before the final print was done to ensure they fit perfectly. Printer settings: Ultimaker Gen 1, PLA 3mm Diamond Age. Ideally, the bubbles and visor should be printed in clear plastic. See images for full printing settings with Cura. The model has been tested and proven to be able to interlock fine (see above video). If you print at the current scale and your printer smudges a bit, it will need cleaning up, especially in the interlocking piece, as the heating is pretty high on small ending cylinders. Be careful when inserting the bubbles without forcing the cylinders onto the hands. Check the video and photos for direction. It should print just fine if you do a bigger scale - it's up to you. I wouldn't recommend printing it smaller unless you're using resin or can do very high-resolution prints without any smudge.
