Nail Puzzle Box

Nail Puzzle Box

myminifactory

This is a puzzle box I created after watching people solve similar wooden versions on YouTube. The challenge lies in opening it without any visible clues on the outside. It's an excellent display piece, piggy bank, or storage container for secret items. Using it for geocaching would also be quite exciting. To find the solution to open this box, scroll down. The mechanics are straightforward and easy to assemble. You'll need 7 nails and a small amount of glue to complete the project. The nails should be less than 0.4cm in diameter and at least 6.5cm long. The glue is only required for one internal piece. Feel free to leave a comment, post a make, or tip me if you have any questions. Please do not commercially sell this design. To solve the puzzle, start by sliding the nails back and forth to loosen them up. Next, apply some force and quickly spin the box in a circular motion. The resulting centripetal force will push all the nails in opposite directions, unlocking it. Once unlocked, gently lift up the lid, which should freely slide out. Update: If the nails do not fully slide when spun, try spinning the box in the opposite direction.
