The Nabataeans, a distinct Arab tribe, occupied northern Arabia and the Southern Levant for centuries. Their settlements, particularly Raqmu, now known as Petra, served as the assumed capital city and gave rise to the term "Nabatene," referring to the border region between Arabia and Syria that stretched from the Euphrates River to the Red Sea. Nabataean art is predominantly characterized by its religious undertones, despite being influenced by Greek culture. The Nabataeans had their own pantheon of deities, which they enthusiastically celebrated through various works of art. Consequently, a significant portion of their artwork represents gods and goddesses or creatures associated with the Zodiac.
