Naarden earned its city status in 1300, a unique distinction within Het Gooi. Over time, it evolved into a heavily fortified garrison town with a thriving textile industry. The fort's walls and surrounding moat are exemplary of star fort design. Restoration efforts have preserved the moat and walls for future generations to admire. Notably, Jan Amos Komensky (Comenius) rests in Naarden, his mausoleum now open to visitors. Many thanks go to Mike Gill (Avon Valley Archaeological Society) for skillfully converting Lidar maps from QGIS/qgis2threejs into Sketchfab using qgis2sketchfab. Special gratitude also extends to Mark Walters for his valuable assistance in this endeavor.
