NA Mazda MX-5 Miata Tweeter Bracket
thingiverse
For 90-97 Mazda MX-5 Miatas equipped with factory tweeters in the upper door panel, the challenge was installing new component speakers while retaining the original appearance. Factory tweeters are embedded in their plastic brackets that secure them to the panel and the back of the silver-trimmed grille, making removal impossible. I wanted to upgrade to new speakers including new tweeters without sacrificing style. These custom brackets allow for this - the tweeters snap into place and the bracket attaches to the original grille and door panel just like the originals. Note: These designs are tailored around Infinity PR6500CS speakers' included tweeters, measuring 32mm in diameter and 12mm in thickness excluding the dome. Other tweeters may fit but I have no way of knowing which ones. Recommendation is to print in ABS and apply a light acetone treatment for optimal durability. Update: V5 adds thickness and fillets to key areas to improve durability and prevent breakage, released on November 28th, 2018. Print Settings: Printer: Flashforge Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: .150mm Infill: 25% Notes: Print with the flat side facing down. Fusion 360 prefers exporting STL files in this orientation over the designed one.
