N900 Stylus
thingiverse
An open-source N900s stylus design for a top open-source phone is available. This model boasts a slightly edgier appearance, simplifying printing and allowing more scope for a polished finish. The Blender source code enables customization of the pen. Note that due to measurements taken from photos, sub-millimeter accuracy isn't guaranteed. Aluminum parts may be difficult to adjust post-printing, so be aware. If the .stl file appears too small, scale it up 10 times in every dimension (original length is 9.9cm). The stylus was printed on a BFB 3D-Touch at its finest resolution (0.125mm), though 0.25mm should suffice. PLA material with a PLA raft, and not ABS due to flexibility issues, was used. A small cylinder was added in the rendering to slow down printing on the back part, as it tended to melt without it. After printing, remove leftover raft material with a file, then sand for a smooth finish. Be cautious not to over-sand the back part or damage the edges at the bottom side. I learned this the hard way, so you don't have to!
