N_struder REV 0.1
thingiverse
The N_struder, a revision of an original 2-struder design, was created with the goal of enhancing the use of Thingiverse's awesome http://www.thingiverse.com/jag and Makerbot's MK7 on a Cupcake. Design concepts include a cooling fan location near the heatsink to cool the stepper motor while still utilizing an MK3 geared DC motor, and a filament drive/material change system that uses only one stepper motor and driver. The design also features added benefits such as 12mm extruder head spacing for more build area, lower cost, and simplicity by eliminating the need for additional motors and drivers. The N_struder is expandable to multiple heads (N = 4-struder concept) and uses 1.75mm stock. However, the designer seeks input from the Thingiverse community on whether there is interest in implementing this design and offers assistance if needed. They also welcome suggestions and plan to publish files after building the first one. The current uploaded assembly is available for review, with other file types available upon request. The left side's "engaging arm" is missing due to Alibre's lack of a mirror function, but the designer will find a workaround.
