N Scale Rail and Wheel Lubrication Equipment
thingiverse
Do your squeaky wheels and rails need grease? This equipment is slick about getting the job done. During a recent trip in Oregon on I-84, I noticed several of these boxes along the tracks that ran along side the highway. After some research I discovered they were rail-wheel greasers or lubricators. This helps prevent wheel noise on curves and ironically improves traction even though it is grease. These are fine details, so you'll need to know and have your printer settings dialed in. These were printed on a FDM(PLA) printer with a 0.4mm nozzle. Both code 80 and 55 track greasers are supplied as well. Depending on the area sometimes the box rested on ballast or ties. I made a cement base that can be used as well. A small solar panel is usually next to the box. I made one here you can add: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5027787 Painted fine wire was used to create the hoses to the track equipment. They are usually orange in color on the prototype.
