N Scale Chemical Facility (1:160)
thingiverse
I'm planning to use a chemical facility as part of my N scale layout. This structure has yet to be printed, but I anticipate it will pose no problems whatsoever. Supports are probably necessary for the expansive window spans of the main building. The building is far too wide for a standard FDM bed, so I've divided it into two pieces. The accompanying images demonstrate how these sections would connect together (using glue, etc). It's recommended to assemble the stairs as a single unit before inserting them into the building. If you're not concerned about filling in the stairwell tower, you could omit this piece altogether. The building and windows should print without issues in the orientation shown. You may require supports for the building window openings, depending on your printer's ability to span. The silos depicted are merely placeholders - I intend to create them using ABS pipe or dowels. There are numerous silo/tank models available on Thingiverse that you could use instead. Cut your own floors and roof from sheet styrene or thin craft foamboard as needed.
