N Scale Boxcar

This is a model of an N scale 40 foot boxcar. I've always wanted a fleet of boxcars for my layout, but the cost was very prohibitive, so I decided to design my own. Just add your own trucks and wheels. I pick my trucks and wheels at model railroad show, flea markets, ebay. etc. Or you could just buy brand new ones.. Print two sides Print two ends. You have a choice of 3 different designs Print one roof You have a choice of 2 different designs Print one base Print one frame Lay one side down on your work surface, interior of side facing up. Attach the ends to the side. Make sure the top where the roof mounts of the two ends and one side are even. The side sits between the ends. Next glue the base to the one side and the two ends. Making it even with the bottom of the ends or just slightly higher into the boxcar. You'll have to hold the base and the frame together to judge how you want to glue it in. Glue in just the base not the frame for now. The base gives the box car more rigidity. Now attach the other side of the box car making it complete except for the roof and frame. Now is the time to paint the box car, the roof, and the frame separately before finish building. Lastly glue on the roof and glue the frame to the base.
