Welcome to your daily example of the fence post principle! N+1 of these little stands will clip together to support up to N laptops, tablets, kindles, ipads, hard-bound books, etc.Print these sideways!This design was designed to be printed on its edge! This has two functions:Each layer is aligned for the strongest support of your valuable thing-to-be-stood-upNo Supports! Careful selection of angles means that the whole thing can be printed without supports, on edge. With 60º overhangs, layers stack easily and accurately.Tolerance is good, Acceptance is betterThe nesting portions of the base fit together pretty tightly. There is only 0.001" difference between the innies and outies of the nesting nether regions of each stand. I have had no issues with this in my printing, which may have to do with PLA's very minor shrinkage. Never the less, a well tuned printer may be necessary for successful prints of these parts.Other fun stuffThe corrugated pattern of the web aims to provide continuous layers along the expected load. The pattern, like that of a shipping container, provides extra rigidity while also keeping the profile thin. This translates to reduced print time and uses less filament.This should scale well. While the uploaded model is designed around a laptop thickness of ¾" (not counting that little lip), if you need it bigger, you can scale it, provided you scale all other prints that are meant to nest with it exactly the same amount (see the above section on tolerance).
