Update 6/2022: After using a half dozen for a year, only one that didnt quite fit and kept falling out of the spool and smashing on the floor repeadly failed, I expected much worse with how fragile the design was. I've stopped using them since the batteries all ran out on the hygrometers and i don't want to replace x) would just like to advise strongly against putting loose beads in them. Liked the idea of the infil style silica holders, decided to try to make one of my own. Ended up w/ a dryer bin replica x.x Too tight. Too loose. Works either way apparently. Decided to add propellers cuz cool. Propellers don't fit so nice, oh well. Noticed I got blue silica instead of orange, had a sad, gave up and ordered normal foodsafe silica indicator bags to shove into them anyhow after confirming this all worked with loose beads more or less. Tested w/ sainsmart pro3/amazon/overture with fins, prusament/polymaker/realistically most spools without fins. Sauce included. Done. Works w/ the normal cheap chinese round hygrometers everyone else using like these https://www.amazon.com/Hygrometer-Thermometer-Humidifiers-Dehumidifiers-Greenhouse/dp/B07BLY177S/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=eeekit+hygrometer&qid=1615621744&sr=8-3 Printing and assembly. If your bed isn't leveled, or your not sure if u want to try to force this all to fit, or you're expecting it all to be perfect, don't do it. There are more rigid holders elsewhere that simply screw into place, and i believe i saw an infil based one w/ glue even. Flatness prints flat with fins pointed up .2 quality , 35% rectilinear infil, 0 top layers, 0 bottom layers, I upped to 4 perimeters to give it more rigidity. Ensure fins rendered in slicing. Rest printed w/ normal 15% infil .2 quality settings. Print roundness x2 with the pretty face on plate, insert coin w/ pretty face on plate, and lock standing up tall. Optional fins that snap into bottom fins touching plate obv. ASSEMBLY I found snipping a small 45 degree a few mm in off all 4 corners of flat made insertion go easier (not necessary on easier version). Going in the notch in roundness slowly and carefully slide flatness in with the fin facing inwards towards the circle, when u begin to encounter too much friction, stop or you'll snap the side off :) Begin clicking the bottom in, very carefully applying pressure as close to the edge of flatness as possible one cm at a time while securely holding roundness untill flatnessclicks in continuing all the way around. Apply same procedure for other roundness. Insert lock along seam, and fiddle the ends of flatness into the slots till secure. If you want the fins, at this point place rocket fins down on a surface and put insert coin over, and start forcing that into place, when u get it most of the way, maybe try to wiggle it around the radius to jimmy it in, while all 4 i made "work", none of them poped in as intended or secured completely ;p Now u can put your insert coin into the bottom, and insert coin, or twist in carefully w/ the fins.(you just need to move it a smidge, if its super tight to secure it) Finally toss some desiccant bags or loose desiccant (preferably orange not evil cobalt blue), or w/e u want, and seal it all in popping your hygrometer, or another insert coin on top :) To remove contents, insert coin doesn't like to come back off sometimes... so preferably wiggle your hygrometer till u hit the edge feeler then pry it out instead if u run into that problem. This all fits together super tight, too tight in fact, I bent two of my 4 out of shape getting them in, so i have included an "easier" flat and fin that fit looser, ofc, looser means looser, perhaps too loose :) Category: 3D Printer Accessories
