The Métral submachine gun is a clandestine weapon designed by Swiss reserves officer, Gérard Métral. A blowback, select fire, open bolt Uzi type design with a side folding stock, it incorporates elements of various existing submachine guns like Suomi M1931's trigger mechanism and Ingram MAC-10's bolt security. Although the designer suggests a DIY approach, he emphasizes the need for skilled metalworking and professional tools. The main spring, barrel, and magazine are particularly challenging to construct, requiring hardening, which may be beyond an amateur's capabilities. Consequently, some parts are intended to be purchased or made to order, while maintaining a non-suspicious appearance. Intended mainly for professional manufacture, this submachine gun is detailed in a book titled "Homemade" by the designer Gerard Metral, published by Paladin Press.
