GAL\n Mensula, the Music Room of Pazo de Xelmírez, 13th century (Santiago de Compostela)\nThis mensula welcomes four musicians represented in the same position, seated and with string instruments. The two in the center have crowns on their heads and fine-tune violas with a slight narrowing in the resonance box that has one of its first representations in this room. Unlike other violinists, these do not wear bows. To their left, a musician poses with a viola and holds a bow with his right hand. This type of resonance box is omnipresent in both plucked and fretted instruments throughout the Middle Ages. The bow is rarely represented more than briefly in iconography. The peg is nothing more than a simple support on which the horsehair strings are stretched, and none show details like the riser on the bow's heel. Completing this repisa is a musician playing a four-stringed cithara.\n► 3D Model by Studo3D
