Last remnant of the third City Hall of Le Havre (1859-1944), this sculpture in the form of a medal has been created by artist Victor Pyanet. It represents Francis 1st, founder of Le Havre. Installed on the left side of an ornate attic adorned with four pillars which had in its center a clock face, this medal faced another low-relief, to the right of the clock face, representing Napoleon III then the Republic. Carved in limestone, known as Caen stone, this ornament could be removed intact from the rubble of the City Hall destroyed by bombing. Diameter: 100 cm. Museums of Art and History of Le Havre.
