Märklin (Hübner) Gauge 1 / 1:32 Rottenkraftwagen 5739 / 5740 LAMPS and DRAWBAR
thingiverse
In 1993, Märklin unleashed a gauge 1 / 1:32 model of a DB maintenance train (Rottenkraftwagen), with Model# 5739 featuring digital capabilities and Model# 5740 running analog. Hübner was the mastermind behind these heavy-duty models, crafting them from solid die-cast metal and equipping them with Faulhaber motors that power both axles through a central cardan-drive system. Even the crane, couplings, and drawbar were precision-made in metal, showcasing Märklin's attention to detail. Only a few components deviated from this metal standard: the top section of the cabin, planks, some details in the running gear, and lamps were fashioned from plastic. A clever design decision allowed for easy lamp replacement – simply paint the reflector silver and attach a clear or red piece of transparent plastic as an imitation lens. As the years have passed, it's likely that these delicate components have either gone missing or been damaged beyond repair. Nevertheless, Märklin enthusiasts can rest assured that replacements are within reach.
