The mask has always been a defining feature of the attire worn by Venetian actors and carnival-goers in general. Originally, it consisted of a carved face with a monstrous or grotesque appearance. Following the surge in mask use during Carnival time, these masks became a tradition in 1436 when mask makers, known as "Maschereri," regulated their profession due to growing demand. The masks, made from paper mache, were produced in various colors and adorned with gems and fabrics. People wore them not only during Carnival but also on many other occasions throughout the year. It hangs on the wall of my home's entrance since Luis Jr. brought it back from his studies trip. I never thought to virtualize it in 3D until yesterday, when the idea struck me while remembering the carnivals of my hometown. It's the season...
