The most commonly recognized emblem associated with Mandalorians is called the “Kyr’bes”. Mandalorian “Krybes”, a symbol of unknown origin, dominates discussions about the Mandalorians. Its origins are shrouded in mystery, and opinions on its source vary widely. The first theory claims that the skull represents a “Bantha,” but this notion seems unlikely as the actual image bears no resemblance to a Bantha's skull. Others suggest the symbol honors an ancient Mandalorian instructor, supported by Abel G. Peña in the Star Wars Insider article, “The History of the Mandalorians.” A third theory proposes that the Krybes is modeled after the skulls of enormous, city-sized reptiles called “Mythosaurs,” which once ruled the surface of early Mandalore before being overtaken by the Taung species.
