Whether you want to design a horn or simply grab an STL and get 3D printing, this project has something for you. This is our fully customisable horn generator, which comes with a huge collection of pre-generated STLs! STL Collection It typically takes several minutes to produce an STL using this generator, sometimes longer or shorter depending on the complexity of the design and the speed of your CPU, so we have included a huge collection of 2,880 pre-generated STLs. The STL collection took approximately one week of processing time to generate and includes all combinations of the following parameters: Height: 100mm, 150mm and 200mm Sew_Holes: Yes and No Invert_Twist: Yes and No Spiral_Offset: 25%, 50%, 75% and 85% Spirals: 1, 2, 3 and 4 Spiral_Revolutions: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Resolution: 10, 25 and 50 The STL collection is approximately 5GB (uncompressed), so we've categorized and compressed the files so that you can download them quicker. Customizer Options We recommend you use OpenSCAD to customize this design. This design has the following Customizer options: General Resolution - Determines the polygon count of the rendered model Height - Total height of the model Spirals Spiral_Radius - Outer radius of each spiral Spiral_Top_Scale - Scale at top of spiral (as percentage of spiral radius) Spirals - Number of spirals Spiral_Revolutions - Number of revolutions per spiral Spiral_Offset - Offset from center (as percentage of spiral radius) Invert_Twist - Invert spiral twist direction Hollow Hollow_Height - Height of spiral hollow (as percentage of spiral height) Hollow_Radius - Width of spiral hollow (as percentage of spiral radius) Sew Holes Sew_Holes - Add sew holes Sew_Hole_Diameter - Sew hole diameter Design Considerations This design is quite resource intensive for OpenSCAD to process. Your chosen Resolution (polygon count) is used for rendering, but it is capped whilst in preview mode to improve performance. Generally we recommend using high Hollow_Height and Hollow_Radius values to create mostly hollow horns, especially if you are planning to illuminate the horn with LEDs. If you plan to attach a horn to a garment, such as a hat, consider adding Sew_Holes. This will add two or more (depending on number of Spirals chosen) 45 degree holes, to allow you to attach the horn with a needle and thread. Material This design is perfect for printing in many filaments, including PLA, PETG and ABS. We recommend using a light or translucent filaments if you plan to illuminate the design.
