Myst Rocket - Remodeled for 3D Printing
thingiverse
Presenting a Rocket Ship from Myst! I created this design specifically for 3D printing, remaking the original rocket published by Cyan Inc from scratch. The rocket prints without supports in three pieces that are then glued together. My design is based almost exclusively on pictures from Myst Masterpiece, and I tried to make it as accurate as possible. Notes: - Since I don't know the actual dimensions of the original rocket, this one wasn't modeled to any particular scale (e.g., 1:32, 1:48, 1:72 etc.), but I estimate that it is probably about 1:60. The assembled model at 100% scale is just under 13 inches long. - One intentional design change I made was to leave off the socket on the back of the rocket where the power lines enter. Although this appears both on Myst Island and in Selenitic Age, I didn't feel that it was appropriate for a standalone model. It also does not appear on the miniature rocket found elsewhere in the game (although it's worth noting that only the right side of that rocket is visible). - At 100% scale, the tolerance between the parts is about one hundredth of an inch (~0.3 mm). - I've included pictures of the printed model both straight off the printer and after having been cleaned up and assembled. I'll plan to post more pictures once I get around to painting it.
