MYOExtra Finger
thingiverse
Here, I present the research project, MYOExtra Finger (abbreviated MEF). MEF is an extra mechatronic extension that can be attached to the surface of the hand. This mechatronic extension is controlled by a servo motor on the arm surface, wich puls a line attached to the end phalanx. An electromyography (EMG) muscle sensor receives signals from the skin surface. The servo motor is controlled by Arduino board, wich processes the signals from the sensor. The whole purpose of this extra finger is to increase hand functionality. The extra finger consists of 3 links and 3 joints. 2 joints between the fingers allow flexion and extension. The joint between the hand insert and the base finger phalanx allows the fingers to rotate when an opposing force is applied.
