Mylonitic shear zone with felsic & mafic layers
sketchfab
Photogrammetric model of a mylonitic shear zone in the Cer metamorphic core complex at Bela Reka, central western Serbia, documented by Georg Löwe & Kamil Ustaszewski. The outcrop measures 6 by 4 meters and is oriented with north to the left. Outcrop coordinates are 44°38‘41.3”N 19°28‘11.1”E. This mylonitic shear zone contains felsic layers of s-type granitic composition forming the leucosome, embedded within mafic, amphibolite-grade metapelitic gneisses rich in garnet and biotite that form the melanosome. The leucosome is likely derived from veins of granitic composition originating from a nearby larger s-type granitoid body but has undergone intense rotational shear displacement during tectonic unroofing of both the granitoid and metapelitic succession hosting it. This entire fabric is considered representative of 'vein-structured' or 'injected' migmatites.
