My variant printrbot
thingiverse
Mr. Drumm's triangular prism-inspired printer has motivated me to pursue my own design. The build area is set at 300mm x 300mm x 200mm, with a print area of approximately 170mm x 210mm and a height of around 120mm. The goal is to fit everything within the print area on a single sheet. A four-motor setup is planned: one for each axis and one for the extruder, with a decision pending on whether to use a geared or bowden configuration. The Z-motor will be a flat stepper, hopefully sufficient from a scanner-sourced motor. The build plate's underside plate (bpholder file) can be customized using 1/8" hardboard or any other 1/8"/3mm material to suit individual needs. A TRINAMIC stepper from Newark, part # 24M6626, is likely for the Y-axis mount and may also be used in the X-axis. If you've downloaded the files, please report any issues, as feedback (good or bad) is appreciated. As more files become available, follow instructions to print, wait, and assemble as directed, while keeping fingers crossed for successful assembly!
