My 3D Scan Bust
thingiverse
I took 19 Photos of myself from various angles. Here's how I created this process: 1. To capture these images, I snapped photos from multiple perspectives. 2. Next, I uploaded these pictures to 123Catch for processing. 3. After that, I waited a considerable amount of time to receive the resulting 3D model - or I could have used a different 3D scan software, but unfortunately, my computer is not powerful enough. 4. To refine the model in 3D-Coat, I imported it and retouched all the unsightly texture maps; be warned that they can look particularly rough at first! 5. For retopology, I exported the model to Zbrush because 3dCoat's capabilities fall short in this area, then used Zremesh to create new UVMaps or alternatively in Zbrush. 6. Now I had a High Poly and Low Poly Version, but their UV Maps were a jumbled mess! Time to fix that: 7. I imported both models into 3DMax; the high poly version retained its original maps and UVs while the low poly version sported UVs from either Zbrush or 3DCoat. 8. Next, I aligned both models, selected the Low poly version, and used projection to generate a Diffuse and Normal map - Xnormal would have yielded similar results, but I opted for the native tool. 9. Finally, I got creative!
