I'm still discovering the ropes in CAD and 3D printing, but I'm learning something new every day, even if it's just trying my best to make progress. This challenge was a great chance for me to dive into a fun project. When discussing ideas with my kids, one suggested a piano, another proposed a drum, while the youngest recommended a trumpet... We eventually settled on building a drum with hammers as drumsticks and horn-shaped tom drums to amplify the noise. I thoroughly enjoyed designing it and experimenting with some additional features that weren't part of the challenge. I even motorized the drum and connected a piezo sensor to link up with a midi system (check out the "evolution" section). Here's an updated version, with changes made since the first presentation a few days ago. The main modifications are: * Adding more tom drums and varying their shapes to produce different sounds * Rounding off the cam bolt's edges for easier insertion onto the camshaft * Including videos and pictures for better illustration * Having some fun with the drum's evolution (see the last section!) * Creating two versions: a standard one meeting the challenge's size restrictions (10x10x12.5) and an XL version with five tom housings. Update (February 1, 2016): I added a link to a piezo/Midi converter in the evolutions section. Pictures will be up soon. Video presentation: https://youtu.be/mHfu1JUAYuEf
