When I bought my 1995 MX-5 Miata, there was an aftermarket, fake carbon fiber gear knob that came with it. The gearknob was approximately 100mm long, which I felt was too long and detracted from the short, comfortable shifts I expected from the clutch. I designed this gear knob as a replacement to overcome those issues. It fits snugly in the palm of your hand and provides quick, sporty feeling gear changes. The gear knob screws directly onto the existing thread and includes the chamfer for a tight fit. The length of the rod sticking out beyond the gear stick cover is 50mm with a thread 10mm x 1.25. This gear knob just covers that and is approximately 54mm tall. Print Settings Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2mm Infill: 80% Post-Printing I smoothed out the print by inserting a 10mm threaded rod into the knob and the other end of the threaded rod into a drill. I ran the drill at a medium speed. I used a soft sponge soaked in acetone to remove all printing defects, then wiped it clean with another sponge. This gave me a finish comparable to that of a snooker ball. Surprisingly this only took about 10 minutes. Don't let the sponge dry out or it becomes sticky quickly. I finished the MX-5 gear knob using high-gloss spray paint. Five coats were applied, and around 16 hours of drying time was allowed.
