Muzzleloader Shot Starter
thingiverse
This is a tool designed to assist in loading muzzle-loading rifles. A hollow core runs through the ball and long arm, allowing for a suitable length of .25in metal rod to be inserted for added strength. The rod can be purchased online or at a hardware store. Using a narrow tool like a drift or nail, push the rod all the way into the long arm and secure it with glue. The support tab on the short arm can be removed after printing by breaking or cutting it off. However, do not print the tool with supports as Cura tends to fill in intentional voids with support material. This design was reworked to eliminate the need for supports. After printing, perform a rough sanding on the entire tool. Next, mix a small quantity of two-part acrylic and apply it evenly to the entire print. This protective coating will shield the tool from the elements. Finally, give the tool a mottled camo paint job and several coats of matte spray acrylic to reduce shine in the deer woods.
