Turbo marmoratus Shell\nInvt. # CMM/DO/62\nDimensions: 107 mm wide, 109 mm long\nMaterial: Calcium carbonate, conchiolin\nOrigin: Gift\nAge: Before 1970\nDescription: A Turbo shell from the family Turbinidae. The shell is small compared to its highly inflated final whorl. Whorls are smooth, except for the last one, which has 2-3 keels that tend to divide into sharp-ended tubercles; the lowest keel encircles the area of the umbilicus. Growth lines are visible on the final whorl. The suture is shallow and the aperture is smooth. The shell is light green in color with white-brown stripes. The opening is expanded like a trumpet mouth, lined with mother-of-pearl material.\nThis shell has high exhibition value and was presented in the "Shells of the World" exhibition cycle. It comes from a collection donated by Eugeniusz Michno, a Polish resident of Florida. The collection formed the basis of the museum's natural history collections.\nhttps://collections.nmm.pl/Home/Details/356-turban-shell-of-slug-from-species-turbo-mar
