This is a replacement fastener designed for installation on the rear trunk panel of 2005-2009 Ford Mustangs. It may also be compatible with other years and models. The original factory part was manufactured to be easily removable by simply pushing it in and unscrewing it. However, after repeated cycles of removal and installation, the tangs that catch the threads tend to wear out, causing the fastener to no longer stay securely in place on the threaded stud. Fortunately, aftermarket versions of this fastener can be purchased for approximately $8 each, including shipping costs. Instead of spending over $20 to replace them, one option is to design a 3D model and print your own replacements.
