Mustang GT Sound Tube Delete
thingiverse
The 2015-2020 Mustang GT comes equipped with a feature known as "Sound Tube," which channels extra engine noise into the cabin. Some individuals enjoy this aspect, while others do not, and I happen to be in the latter group. As an alternative solution, I designed a printable item called The Sound Tube Delete, which many people had previously conceived. This plug fits directly into the intake connector of a 5.0L Coyote V8 engine's sound tube, effectively blocking the noise. The process of accessing the holding screw on the firewall side of the Sound Tube can be quite challenging, so I chose to bypass this step and instead installed The Sound Tube Delete right over the blocked connector at the intake. This approach achieves the same result as removing the entire unit without the hassle of stripping fingers or dealing with other issues. The installation process is relatively straightforward: * Removing the engine cover enhances accessibility but is not strictly necessary. * Pull off the Sound Tube, using pliers to stretch the clamp if necessary. * Insert the printed plug into the connector tube. The fit should be snug, but it shouldn't require excessive force. * Re-mount the Sound Tube in its original position, again utilizing pliers to stretch the clamp. * That's it. I printed this item using a .3mm layer height to provide better grip. While PLA could potentially work, I recommend using PETG for added stability due to the absence of UV light and excessive heat.
