Musical chess with Piano box, stool and board
thingiverse
Warning: The images are riddled with errors that have been corrected in the files. The most glaring issue is that I printed the wrong pawns, which I'm pretty sure are actually rooks. I may not be musically inclined (it's a gift for pianists), but I printed away and only reviewed my work after it was done. Another major problem is that the pieces are oversized and need to be rotated to fit on the chessboard. The file I submitted contains the pieces at 80% of their original size, which I hope will be sufficient (I didn't want teeny-tiny pieces, but musical notes aren't exactly ideal for chess). This project is a Frankenstein's monster of the three sources I'm linking. I had hoped it would come together quickly, but it took forever and ended up being vastly different from its original inspirations. Many things I'd like to fix, but I'm not reprinting everything, mistakes and all. I particularly want to improve the chess pieces (my attempt was less than stellar) and the chessboard, which printed out with incorrect heights on my printer. You can also use the piano as a box itself, with everything except the board going inside the piano, including the stool. The connector on the lid doesn't work well at all and barely holds things together. I'd appreciate it if someone could improve that. I want to extend my gratitude to Albator_91 for helping me fix errors in the files – otherwise, no one else would be able to print this!
