People are playing a variety of music notes consisting of quarter rests. These can include eighth-note rests, quarter notes, or half-note rests as part of the music. The actual length in seconds depends on tempo. For example, one half is equivalent to 1000 milliseconds at 120 beats per minute. Quarter and half are 500 and 2000 respectively with all resting for their full duration regardless of how fast the piece of music is being played.
