https://youtu.be/mh68IjCObNQ I've always loved those glow-in-the-dark wall stars since I was a small kid, even though they usually just ended up more on the floor than on the walls throughout my whole life; I'm STILL finding them!! I bulk bought several rolls of phosphorescent PLA filaments last summer, and only now did it just occur to me that I can make my own "stars" now. I made these music-notation themed ones to inspire my guitar, jaw-harp, steel tongue-drum, and thumb-piano studies. I've been in a RIDICULOUSLY bad headspace for several years.... S* happens. Sometimes, it even stops happening. e_e But that's a huge part of what music and music studies are for. I've listed this as an "educational" project because I remember that my 8th Grade English classroom had several hundred glow-in-the-dark stars on its walls, and that was the only good thing about that whole year in there. My 13-year-old self absolutely loved that someone finally used that many of them on one wall, and made an indoor galaxy! Therefore, it is my hope that teachers of almost any subject will decorate their classrooms with these, and in so doing maybe point out to them which temporal values each of these highly abstract symbols has. Imagine being able to read simple rhythms in musical-notation even if you have never taken up an instrument. You could even use these unconventionally to spell things out in Morse Code, and thereby teach those poor kids how to communicate with pen lights. (If you don't like that idea because kids will definitely use Morse Code to "pass notes" in class, even if it's true that they totally would you're still anti-literacy. Restricting literacy, or even just the varieties of alphabets and transmission mediums, has always been THE UTMOST HEART of social oppression. Engineered ignorance is the heaviest shackle there is----ESPECIALLY in classrooms. Literacy is anarchy. Don't be faint of heart spreading the power around or letting it go. That's a teacher's only real job; all those extra toppings are better described by other job titles. That's the dangerous thing about words: they have meanings. Although sometimes it's what students aren't saying that should be most concerning. I'm obviously sill burdened with a 200lb sack of salt about my experiences as a student. I speak up now only for the next generation of silent sufferers, which from what I've witnessed from the inside is the 'True Normal'.) I kind of feel like printing mostly Sixteenth and Eighth notes and rests, to suggest high energy and rhythmic chaos. :D But of course one could even take the opposite approach and use tons of Whole notes to suggest mellowness and meditation. Or be a jerk and cover the walls in nothing but Rests, as if to make silence literally the letter of the law in your own private land. O__O Your space is totally your call. :)
