Notice! I'm still working on this one, so expect updates/improvements in the next few days! Making a Spore Print from One Mushroom: To Create a Spore Print: Clean acrylic plates with alcohol and dry them thoroughly with a clean cloth or paper. Clean your table surface too. Take a fresh (right after picking) matured mushroom, and remove the stem. Place it with the gills or pores facing down on the acrylic plate. Leave it in a clean and dry place with minimal air circulation. After about 12 hours, remove the mushroom. You'll see a 'print' of the mushroom gill/pore pattern, made by thousands upon thousands of spores. Depending on the species, the color of the print can vary from white to purple or black. Place the second acrylic plate on top and press them together slightly. The spores are now sandwiched between the two plates, so no dust/dirt/microbes can enter. Press them joined together into the 3D printed wrapper, then place it on the 3D printed cap. In the fridge or freezer, you can keep a spore print viable for several months to years. Feel free to get the .3dm (Rhino), .stp (Solidworks / Dassault), or .skp (Sketchup) and change the size according to your needs. To use this, have the 3mm acrylic sheet (.dxf file) laser cut, then print the two pieces.
