Culture: Yokuts County: Kern, Tulare, Kings, Fresno Date of Manufacture: Late 1800s Materials: Deer grass stems; sedge grass roots; bracken fern roots; redbud shoots Dimensions (cm): Height = 20.5, Max Diam = 43.4 Description: A round mush boiler basket with a flat base and flaring sides is woven in a coiled technique on a bundle foundation; deer grass stems are used as the warp material and sedge grass roots as the primary weft material; designs around the sides include two parallel, paired rectilinear zigzag bands made from black bracken fern roots, two pairs of triangles created with redbud, and a narrow band featuring staggered segments in both bracken fern and redbud just below the rim.
