Museum Village Düppel showcases a seasonal open-air museum featuring an 800-year-old village reconstructed to perfection. The site has been transformed into a thriving community with authentic residences, storehouses, workshops, fields, and gardens. In 1967, archaeological excavations began in southwest Berlin, uncovering evidence of ancient building foundations and farmyards dating back to the era just before 1200. Thanks to cutting-edge experimental archaeology, the medieval village was rebuilt on its original site, establishing it as a renowned centre for hands-on historical research. This remarkable project was digitized by the HTW Berlin - University of Applied Sciences, Institute DE:HIVE, and was part of an annual programme organized by digiS, with financial support from the Senate of Berlin. The result is a unique and captivating experience that brings history to life under CC BY-Attribution: HTW Berlin - DE:HIVE/City Museum Berlin.
