The Museum of Science and Industry is situated in Jackson Park within the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, nestled between Lake Michigan and The University of Chicago. It occupies a former Palace of Fine Arts from the iconic 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. Initially funded by Julius Rosenwald, president and philanthropist of Sears, Roebuck and Company, it received backing from the Commercial Club of Chicago before opening its doors in 1933 during the Century of Progress Exposition.
