Museum Label/ Signage Support (adjustable/ quick print)
thingiverse
This is a versatile support bracket for large exhibit signage and museum labels. It offers adjustable viewing angles, making it perfect for displaying information in the most effective way possible. This design requires minimal material (~4 grams), prints quickly with a .3mm layer height, and can be reused multiple times by applying a few patches of CA glue to attach the label to the frame. To add stability, simply insert 1/4" balls into the sockets, which will not only provide support but also enhance the overall appearance. You may find 1/4" steel hunting shot in your local hardware store's locked cabinet, often used for slingshots and possibly bearing off-spec 1/4" steel balls. A pack of 250 can be purchased for approximately $5, leaving you with plenty of extras for future use. Assembling the bracket is a straightforward process: - First, connect the side beams using a cross brace, followed by joining the bottom beams in the same manner. Secure them with CA glue. - Once the two halves are dry, snap the plugs of the bottom braces into the sockets of the side beam. - Apply a small amount of glue to attach the frame to the back of your sign or label. - Adjust the viewing angle and secure the hinge with a small amount of glue. If you use PVA glue, you can easily reposition these frames if needed. - To add weight, place a 1/4" bearing into each socket, securing them firmly with pliers. For aesthetic purposes, you can paint this PLA piece by priming it with a light coat of Weldbond glue diluted with water. Once dry, apply acrylic paint to achieve the desired color and finish.
