Musette is a Maltese dog, depicted in hard-paste porcelain by French modeler Jean-Marie Gille, also known as Gille jeune (1798-1868). The sculpture dates from 1855-68 and was created after a model by Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse. It measures H. 15 1/2 in. (39.4 cm.) and is classified under Ceramics-Porcelain. The piece, part of the Parisian culture, is housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection, acquired through The Charles E. Sampson Memorial Fund in 1977 with accession number 1977.44. A scan of the sculpture was done by Millicent Cooley during a NYC Museum MediaLab Meetup event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art using a Sense 3D hand-held scanner.
