Pikachu is a Japanese Pokémon known for its electric abilities. It evolves from Pichu by leveling up with high friendship and turns into Raichu after being exposed to a Thunder Stone. The initial Pikachu in Pokémon Yellow won't transform into Raichu unless traded and evolved on another saved file. Pikachu is widely recognized as the mascot of the Pokémon franchise and a prominent representative of Nintendo's collective mascots. In the series, Ash was given the chance to use a Thunder Stone to make Pikachu evolve into Raichu in the episode Electric Shock Showdown. However, Pikachu chose not to change in order to show that you don't have to become something else to overcome obstacles.
