Muscle Wire Actuated Insect Robot Plastic Parts

Muscle Wire Actuated Insect Robot Plastic Parts

thingiverse

This initial plastic model for a Squito-style muscle wire robot is large, and it still needs refinements on design forces; future versions may include lightening holes and size reduction. The pivot group, designed for Makerbot Cupcake CNC, participates in a Make contest. Drill the horizontal pin holes later. Cut other parts using a small CNC router. SketchUp has the model, with STL files to be exported to FreeMill for G-code creation. This project mainly aimed to enhance SketchUp skills; feel free to comment or make improvements. Assembling involves making six legs and pivot sets each, drilling pin holes in pivots, attaching them to the base with metal pins, connecting legs using pins and springs, and screwing muscle wires on top of stepped cylinders.
