Muquanas (stalactiles)
thingiverse
This is a Muqarnas (stalactite) Building Kit. The Scad File Contains 12 Elements - Solid And Hollow - Listed In The Elements Files. These Tiles Can Be Used To Create Domes, Arches, Corbels Or Friezes. To Design And Assemble The Tiles, I Referenced Only One Book: "Arabesques - Decorative Art In Morocco" By Jean-Marc Castéra (ISBN 2-86770-124-4). The Tilling Rules Are Detailed On Pages 289 To 481. This Is An Older Project That Began With Pov-Ray Ray-Tracing Software. It Was One Of My First Models Created Using OpenScad. I Attempted To Create Each Tile From The Book, But Successfully Designed Only 12 - Some Were Adapted From Pages 316 To 318. My Goal Is Simply To Experiment With These Tiles. The Two Completed Models Are Upside-Down In The STL File For Better Printing Quality. It Should Be Possible To Print The Tiles Separately And Then Assemble Them, But I Prefer Designing The Model In OpenScad Before Printing.
